Looking for a good affordable laptop could be a challenge in the past. Now you can enjoy the benefits of an expensive laptop model in a cheaper one due to technology. Companies listened to the demands of consumers for a feature-packed, fast and good-looking laptop at more affordable prices and now we can actually own the best laptop under $500.
However, because we have a greater selection of high-powered affordable models now, it can be tricky choosing one. Look for reviews so you can easily streamline your choices. In this review, we are going to take on the Dell Inspiron 15 5000.

Dell has released excellent laptops and their dependability is always an advantage of their products. Many individuals choose models from the brand because of its affordable prices, mid-range processors and top-notch graphics cards.
The Inspiron 15 5000 includes an Intel Core i5 processor and graphics card. It also has a panel of 1,920 x 1,080 which fits components with higher specifications. The image quality is satisfactory, even though it does not have a brighter display. The brightness is subdued by the matte finish of the screen, so light coming from above and sunlight will not have a serious impact on the panel as it would glossier ones.
In terms of performance, running Windows 10 on this unit felt smooth and hassle-free due to the inclusion of a dual-core Intel Core i5-5200U processor and the touchpad, which was very receptive. Taps, swipes, and clicks can be done on the unit without going over and over on the item.
Its NVIDIA GeForce 920M graphics chip offers a good quantity of hard work with 4 gigs of memory. While it is not the fastest card in the industry, it is capable of managing games and multi-media. You can play 3D games on this one with lower detail levels, however, games that are more fortified will need a higher amount of fiddling with the graphics settings including its detail dropping and resolution tweaks.
Nevertheless, this is a big improvement over graphics that are integrated in majority of processors for laptop use.
The item has 1 USB 3 port located on the left and also features additional 2 USB 2 ports situated on the right; it has enough room for your peripherals. The unit also features an SD card reader that takes in SD, SDXC and SDHC cards, plus a 3.5mm headset jack positioned at the right of the chassis.
Its built-in speakers have a nice enough sound even when loud; it does not get that awful distorted sound, and it is capable of managing both music and dialogue.
Another plus is that the company has decided to bring back the DVD drive.
The lid of the unit has a textured silver plastic material which provides the effect of a hardy, long-lasting construction. The silver plastic that was used for most of the unit does not have a high-quality feel to it though. It does not have the same solid and quality feel as the previous model.
Furthermore, the battery life of the unit is weak. You will be obligated to take a charger with you at all times. You have to take advantage of the laptop’s power-savings settings just to get enough life out of the unit.
The Dell Inspiron 15 5000, unfortunately, does not work like the previous model. The battery life and quality of construction were mediocre, which is not something to look forward to on Dell laptops, surprisingly. But despite it all, it has returned the DVD drive, you can mount a full HD screen on it and level up the graphics performance and processing of the unit.
The model still brings consumers good value at an affordable laptop. So is this the best laptop for $500? In case you are looking for a good entry-level laptop model that’s soft on the pockets, you can try this one out. However, this is not ideal for gaming.
